In choosing a design for this website the rationale was based on the concept 95.9 percent of the world's internet users use a mobile phone to access the internet some of the time and that mobiles Now account for 62 percent of all online searches today (DataReportal 2024). For this reason it was important that this website was fully responsive and mobile friendly. In the future it might become commonplace to make mobile friendly the first design decisions of creating websites, for now this site is designed for normal screens but is completely responsive in mobile-friendly. It was also chasing to make the lunch and dinner menus into downloadable PDFs so that customers can not only view them online they can also download them to keep a copy with themselves. On mobile devices the PDF may seem small however almost all mobile devices these days have touchscreens and therefore it is easy to simply put two fingers on the pdf and expand it in the iframe for easier viewing. This made the iframe and a PDF seamless simplest and best solution for allowing people to see the menus and keep a copy for future reference.
As for the takeaway orders form it was decided to create a menu whereby customers can simply check the the food that they want and see a running total at the bottom of the takeaway order form. From the bottom of the takeaway order form they can then download a copy to their own phone or computer to see what they ordered as well as submit the order for processing by the restaurant. Once they submit the order it was decided to make the auto screen lock so it cannot be adjusted. That way they cannot accidentally submit multiple orders if they decide to make a change to their order but instead they have to ring a phone number to physically change the order. This stopped the potential of accidentally placing more than one order.
For the bookings sections it was decided to create a booking sheet that subtracted the amount of available bookings in a restaurants sitting at anyone time. As for booking the function room it has a limit of 30 guests and will not accept a booking over that amount. Allowing only three settings to be booked per session means that the restaurant is not necessarily overbooked all the time and still allows for walk-in customer, can I have that many seats and tables available. If a sitting becomes full but customers really want a place at the restaurant, ring they can always ring and manually place a booking if space permits.
As far as images were concerned there were no need for new images as the ones that were presented seem perfectly fine for an image gallery which was put at the bottom of the main page with a click on and blow up image selection that customers can scroll through. Is concerns based on the website whilst also allowing for multiple images to be seen as the customer Scrolls through them. It was also chosen not to use the restaurant photos as they all seem quite dark and make the restaurant look somewhat old fashioned. Using other photos not related to restaurant would be dishonest and misleading. The gallery also works well on mobile devices.
It should be noted that the booking pages word as long as you stay on the pages and if you do you will see the bookings reduce as bookings are made however it should be noted that without launching the website online with a proper File manager and Database for the information to be stored, moving off the webpage simply resets thet bookings. The same applies to the Takeaway Order that can download the order in text format but has nowhere to send the order to, but this was expected in the assignment guideline.
